# Google AI Overview citation pills schema

> Schema for the inline citation pills in the Google AI Overview, one entry per cited source.

This section documents the **citation pills** data in the [Google AI Overview](https://cloro.dev/docs/api-reference/endpoint/google/ai-overview): the inline pills (for example `[Chase Bank +3]`) that Google shows next to the AI Overview text. `result.aioverview.citationPills` has one entry per cited source and is present only when Google shows pills.

## Citation pill structure

Citation pills have the same structure as [AI Mode citation pills](https://cloro.dev/docs/api-reference/endpoint/aimode/citation-pills.md#citation-pill-structure), with one difference: `position` indexes [`result.aioverview.sources`](https://cloro.dev/docs/api-reference/endpoint/google/ai-overview/sources) and is present on every entry.

A chip can also hold URLs that are not in `sources`. Those go in [related links](https://cloro.dev/docs/api-reference/endpoint/google/ai-overview/related-links.md), not in `citationPills`.
