The leaderboard measures which brands AI search engines mention and cite when asked the questions real buyers ask. All data is first-party: cloro's own API queries the engines directly — nothing is sampled from third-party datasets.
Each category has a fixed set of buyer-intent prompts (e.g. “What is the best SERP API?”). Every week, each prompt is asked to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, and Google AI Mode with US localization. Each engine answer is one sample; the per-category sample size is shown on every leaderboard page.
Detection is deterministic — no LLM judges. A brand counts as mentioned when its name appears in the answer text (word-boundary match, citation links stripped first), and as cited when a source the engine links resolves to the brand's own domain. The AI Visibility Score (0–100) is:
score = 100 × (0.6 × mention rate + 0.25 × citation rate + 0.15 × position factor)
Mention rate and citation rate are the share of answers that mention or cite the brand. The position factor is the mean of 1/position over answers that mention it — being named first counts more than being named fifth. Share of voice is the brand's share of all brand mentions in the category that week.
Snapshots are weekly (Mondays, UTC), deliberately not real-time: AI rankings don't move hour-to-hour, and dated “as of” snapshots are easier to cite and compare. Each page shows its snapshot week; the Δ column tracks rank movement against the previous week.
Each category tracks a fixed roster of the recognizable brands in that vertical — a brand outside the roster can't rank. cloro appears in categories where it competes and is scored by exactly the same rules.
